An Accessible Shower Designed Around the Existing Bathroom

Marton

Replacing a difficult-to-access bath with a low-level shower tray and folding glass screen, designed to make everyday showering easier and more accessible and comfortable.

What the Customer Needed

Stepping over the side of the existing bath had gradually become more difficult and no longer provided suitable access for the customer. As they use a walking aid, they needed a showering area that would allow them to keep their aid close by and reach a comfortable seat more easily. They also wanted the adaptation to work with their existing bathroom without changing anything else unnecessarily.

What We Suggested

After discussing the customer’s needs and looking carefully at the available space, we suggested replacing the bath with a low-level walk-in shower.

A standard fixed glass panel would have left a relatively narrow opening, making it difficult for the customer to enter with their walking aid. Instead, we recommended the Amber bi-folding shower screen, which folds fully back to open up the showering area. This allows the customer to bring their walking aid closer and reach the shower seat much more easily.

Once the customer is comfortably seated, the screen can be folded out to create an enclosed showering area and help prevent water from reaching the surrounding floor.

The new shower also included an anti-slip tray, a folding seat, thoughtfully positioned grab rails inside and outside the showering area, and an easy-touse cool-touch thermostatic shower. Each feature was carefully chosen to provide the right support while keeping the bathroom comfortable and attractive, helping the customer shower with greater confidence and independence.

The Finished Walk-In Shower

The completed walk-in shower gives the customer much easier access, together with the comfort and support they need while showering.

The bi-folding screen provides the open access needed when entering the shower and can then be folded into position to create a comfortable showering space.

By working carefully with the existing layout, we were able to make the bathroom more suitable for the customer without carrying out a full refurbishment.
